Join Me at CU Asia 2018

The time is almost here for CU Asia 2018. On Feb 8th, more than 300 coworking people will come together in Penang, Malaysia, to teach, share, connect, and celebrate the ever-growing and exciting coworking movement.

Community presentation at the CU Asia Coworking Academy.

Penang, a UNESCO World Heritage City, is one of the most colourful places on Earth. “It’s one of Malaysia’s most diverse, cosmopolitan and exciting cultures,” according to the CU Asia team. Located at the intersection of Asia’s great kingdoms and Europe’s powerful colonial empires, Penang has long served as the link between Asia’s two halves and an important outlet to the markets of Europe and the Middle East.”

I can’t think of a better place to host such a diverse and forward-thinking conference than at the long-time merging and meeting place of cultures from all over the world.

Location aside, there are plenty of other and more important reasons to attend CU Asia in a couple of weeks.

Amazing Life-long Connections

I’ve said this time and time again, but I’ll say it one more time. The #1 thing you’ll get out of any coworking conference you attend will be the personal relationships with the organizers and other attendees.

You can dance if you wan to…

It’s those moments between the sessions, at lunch, and when you’re dancing your socks off at the after parties where the magic really happens. That’s the time you get to reflect with others on what you’ve learned and seen. That’s when it all comes together.

It’s Eye-opening

One of the most important takeaways from CU Asia last year was the new scope with which I saw our movement/industry. The coworking world is vast; much larger than I’d previously envisioned. And the Asian coworking market is growing at an incredible pace.

Unconference schedule.

If you’re coming from Europe, the US, or Australia, you’ll quickly realize the coworking world doesn’t revolve around you. At least not anymore. In fact, it’s far past that stage. You’re now just one fish in a very large and quickly expanding pond. You’ll meet small and independent spaces, as well as large and established networks from all over the Asia-Pacific and surrounding regions.

Literally the Best People

It’s been said by many of us so-called  thought leaders that CU Asia is the best coworking conference in the world. It’s true in my experience, and so it attracts the best people to speak and participate, from all around the world.

Some of us braved the heat to get this sweet drone photo.

Speakers and notable participants include:

  • Ashley Proctor, Executive Director of 312 Main
  • Alex Hillman, founder of IndyHall
  • Bryan Stewart, co-founder of Outpost Asia
  • Christoph Fahle, co-founder of Betahaus
  • Conrad Tracey, COO at Inspire9
  • Leanne Beesley, Founder & CEO at Coworker.com

I’ll be speaking!

I’ll be talking about coworking technology during the Coworking Academy. Come learn all about the basic tech you need in your space to keep your operations simple and your community secure and happy.

The Food is Incredible

I’ll just leave these here.

So, yeah, I hope to see you there. I’m sure we’ll connect over some delicious food and even more appetizing conversation.
