Coworking in Canberra Reaches New Heights, One Year After Hub Australia’s Civic Quarter Opening

Canberra’s inquiry for coworking has remained strong this past year despite the pandemic, recovering faster than any other city in Australia. This is according to Hub Australia, which opened its first site in the capital a year ago.

Since Australia’s premium flexible workspace provider Hub Australia opened the doors to Hub Civic Quarter a year ago, the site has remained almost fully occupied and continues to grow its waiting list. The Hub workspace in the award-winning Civic Quarter building has attracted strong interest consistently throughout its first year, despite the challenges of COVID-19.

Hub Civic Quarter boasts a diverse mix of tenants, from major global corporates like One Trust, to government agencies and scaling local businesses.

The premium flexible workspace accommodates up to 300 members across two expertly designed floors of the brand-new A-grade building development by Amalgamated Property Group (APG).

Hub also provides Building Hospitality Services in partnership with APG to operate the co-branded Civic Quarter Business Centre, by Hub, and concierge services. As one of the only flexible workspace providers specializing in the whole of building hospitality offering, the industry-first product provides a suite of hospitality-led services to building owners to create a premium workplace experience for every customer of a commercial office asset.

One year after its launch, Hub Australia continues to deliver a genuinely enhanced workplace experience to blue-chip tenants in the building including Westpac/St George, Colliers, AECOM and Datacom Australia.

“Hub Australia’s success in Canberra during our first year shows businesses in the capital are leading the way in embracing flexible and liberated work. We have seen stronger demand here than any other Hub site since the pandemic, even though we opened in a challenging year,” said Hub Australia CEO and Founder Brad Krauskopf.

“We’re also proud of the Hub Building Hospitality offering we have delivered at the Civic Quarter Business Centre for Amalgamated Property Group. The building’s focus on future-ready amenity, technology and sustainability perfectly aligns with the flexible workspace offering. With such high demand from businesses in Canberra, Hub is likely to expand its flexible workplace and Building Hospitality expertise to the capital,” said Krauskopf.

Amalgamated Property Group General Manager Phil O’Brien said: “We’ve been extremely pleased to have Hub Australia open their first ACT coworking offices in Civic Quarter and we congratulate them on what has been a successful first year. Their workspaces and service levels have elevated the building’s overall offering; Hub has brought many new reputable brands into our community, delivered professional management of our Business Centre and enables existing Civic Quarter tenants the flexibility to expand during their peak times.”

“Civic Quarter stage 1 has recently achieved a Well Core and Shell certification at the Silver level (the first commercial office building in the ACT to achieve this) from the International Well Building Institute and I know this continues our alignment with Hub’s sustainability principles also.”

With the interior fit-out designed by architecture firm M Moser Associates, Hub Civic Quarter offers members a diverse range of sleek flexible spaces, including eight large executive suites with private balconies overlooking Veterans Park.

A members’ lounge with concierge is elevated above the building lobby with a dedicated barista service, while a kitchen, relaxation space, end-of-trip facilities and premium technology including a media studio for podcasting are also on offer.
