How Old is the Typical Coworking Space? 2019 Industry Stats

The 2019 Coworker Members’ Choice Awards have officially concluded, and we are proud to recognize 529 spaces in 126 countries around the world this year as being the best in their respective cities.

After collecting thousands (and thousands!) of votes from our network of 12,000+ coworking spaces and their members, we have compiled aggregate data from the awards program and gathered some interesting insights.

Our voting process this year contained two unique tracks: one for coworking space members or users, and one for coworking space operators, managers, and staff.

As a result, we were able to uncover some ‘behind-the-scenes’ insights about our member coworking spaces that we want to share with you! (Hint: plans for expansion are trending!)

Of the space operators, managers, and staff who voted, here’s what we discovered about the history of their spaces:

Moreover, a whopping 77.14% of coworking space staff members said their space plans to expand by opening new locations in the near future. From these responses, it’s clear the flexible office industry shows no sign of slowing down and, in fact, many coworking brands are just getting started!

For a full analysis of the responses, we received in this year’s CMCAs, including the common demographics of our voters as well as members’ habits and expectations while coworking,  check out our 2019 CMCAs Official Data Report.
